Tequitqui Sculptural Technique
The figure of this angel is deeply undercut and stands out far from the wall. At the same time, the surface of the angel's garments is incised in a shallow, two-dimensional manner that emphasizes line rather than volume. This carving technique is typical of pre-Hispanic relief sculpture found in Aztec buildings.
